Brian Wallach never thought he'd have the chance to ever actually speak to Bruce Wayne in person, but here he was, sitting across from him at a table in the middle of the batcave, laughing over shared experiences. "I don't know how much longer I can go losing gaps of time each month, Bruce," Brian finally says, as the conversation turns serious. Because he really isn't sure how much he can take. He's gone to countless number of specialists, and while they all tell him that he's still in good condition and that his brain isn't taking on any damage, Brian knows better. Bruce does too. In the past few months, the two men have been sharing notes with each other, on how to fix the shift, on how to stop it, even on how to make it so one person gets their life back. Bruce was always the one willing to sacrifice his life for Brian's - another reason why Brian was a bit ashamed to admit that he had been fooled by the impostor hours before. It didn't matter though both men knew they had finally reached a standstill. While Bruce was a bit more scientific than Brian was, it didn't take a scientific mind to realize that something had to give.

"What do you suggest we do?" Brian asked, as Bruce had fallen silent in thought, resting his chin in his hand as he looked at the table in front of them. When Bruce looked back up to Brian, he replied, "We work together."

Brian sighed, frustrated, "We've been doing that, Bruce, we've been--"

"-- yes, when I've been awake, and when you've been asleep and vise versa. What if there was a way to just have us both be here, at all times?" Bruce wondered, and Brian couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

"Did you just miss the whole fact that I just essentially fought a smoke monster playing on my fear of losing my identity to you?" Brian shook his head, annoyed that Bruce would even consider that, and Bruce sighed in frustration that Brian wasn't listening.

Yet another way that the men were different.

But, while they had been different, they had helped each other grow as well. Brian had helped Bruce become a bit of a kinder man, more welcoming to others, though the level of trust that had to be earned was still there. Brian helped Bruce loosen up a bit, and he was easier to laugh, easier to joke around, and that had helped his relationships with those he worked closely with exponentially. Bruce on the other hand, had helped Brian be more business minded, had helped him trust his instincts more, and had given Brian a bit more of a hardened skin over the past two years. They evened each other out, filled the spaces that would not have been filled otherwise. They worked well together.

Then, Brian understood. "You mean merge together? No longer having a shift?"

"You'll be able to see what the life is like being me," Bruce said.

"And you'll be able to live a more calming life being like me," Brian continued. "But what about our friends, what about our..."

"I have a feeling my Selina, your Veronica, she'll be okay." Bruce said, "She's always been a strong one, is it really any surprise we both ended up going towards the same woman?" Bruce smirked, and Brian did as well. It of course had taken some nudging on Bruce's end to get Brian to see what he had in Veronica, and Brian certainly had made some mistakes along the way. But he was happier now, he was happier in the life he had. He felt stronger because of that. Both men weren't too proud to admit to that.

"If you trust me, like I trust you, I think this can work. We can be both," Bruce said, and Brian nodded. Because it was time. Brian and Bruce both knew they had been blending together for a while, starting with Brian getting the memories of Bruce, and then awaking to find the batcave. Brian wasn't freaked out at the idea of sharing his life with Bruce anymore, and Bruce had finally warmed up to the idea. It was time. At the same time, the men stood up, and decided to shake on it, and as they shook hands, the light in the room started to get brighter, and Brian closed his eyes to shield himself from it.

When he opened his eyes again, it was to Veronica looking over him, glad that he was awake and alive, and soon she was hugging him excitedly. "Alright! I'm okay, I'm okay," Brian said as he hugged her back, and once Veronica moved, he sat up straight, and moved to hang his legs over the side of the bed, looking around the room as if he was looking at everything with a new set of eyes.

In a way, he was.

All of the memories of Bruce Wayne were now in his head. Every single moment, every heartache, every pain, every triumph, every downfall. Every action he had ever taken, every word he had ever said. It wasn't just Brian Wallach that woke up on March 25, 2016, but Bruce Wayne as well.

He had stayed silent for a while, but there was a smile on his face, and Veronica was looking at him with a raised eyebrow. "Uh, you're kinda scaring me with the whole 'silent but grinning' thing, you going to tell me what is going on? Are you okay? You look a little too...calm right now, Brian."

He sighed and nodded, turning to look at Veronica, and he took her hand into his. "Let's just say that a lot has happened in the past few hours, and that I have a lot to tell you. Or, we have a lot to tell you."

"We?" She asked, looking at her husband with a confused look, and Brian grinned.

Life from here on out was going to be one interesting ride.
