full name delilah sally diederich comicverse alias lorna dane date of birth june 4, 1986 • (28) residence boston, ma education mit, stanford occupation environmental scientist, guitarist for siren's song relationship status single storylines
Delilah Diederich was born into a family of prestige. Her father, Gregory, is the younger brother of Maxwell Diederich Sr., former CEO of Diederich Motor Company. Each member of the family was expected to give their all to the company to insure that it survived for generations to come. Her father took over as Vice President when she was five years old and still holds the position to this day. It was because of his position that he was able to cover up the circumstances of her birth, even to Delilah. She is completely unaware that her mother was a prositute named Suzanna Davis and is under the impression that her real mother died giving birth to her.. The truth of the matter is very few people know of what truly happened with her mother.

To her knowledge, she is an only child, and she was spoiled and treated as such. Growing up as member of a wealthy Boston family had its perks. Lilah was not only doted upon by her father, but she knew from an early age that she would have the best education and her pick of colleges once that time came. The only downfall to it was that she was expected to take her rightful place at Diederich once she finished her education. It was as if her entire life was mapped out for her. Gregory was pleased when his daughter expressed interest in science and constantly told Lilah she would end up head of the science division at the company. Of course, young Lilah didn't care about such aspirations and only wanted to learn. Her thirst for knowledge was unquenchable, and, during her teenage years, she sacrified socialization for learning. Always reading, researching or experimenting, she eventually graduated at the top of her class. Even without her family's money, she would have had her pick of any school in the country. Naturally, she chose MIT to pursue her degree in physics.

Four years later, she was flying across the country to obtain another degree, this time a Master's in geophysics. Lilah was fascinated with the physics of the planet and wanted desperately to become a researcher at a presitgious institute. Of course, that was not in her cards. The moment she graduated, she was all but forced into an environmental scientist position at Diederich - the closest fit to her degree. The job itself isn't her dream, but she's managing. At the very least, she can take comfort in knowing that her numerous cousins are caught in the same predicament she is. Should she ever need someone to talk to, there are at least ten others who feel the same way she does.

Even though she has completed her education, Lilah still spends most of her time reading. That isn't to say she hasn't learned how to socialize - college had a way of doing that even to the most unsocial creatures. She took up an interest in music well into her graduate education and ended up joining a friend's band to escape her comfort zone. It has been good for her. The usually uptight woman has learned how to relax and have a good time, much to the surprise of those who know her best. Lilah often considers trading in the scientist garb for her guitar, but she knows such a thing would cause an uproar. On top of that, the last thing she wants to do is disappoint her aging father. Gregory Diederich's health is beginning to fail, and Lilah couldn't stand to be the reason he succumbed to his heart problems. Despite her bitterness towards the family for the expectations thrust upon her from birth, the fear of disappointing her father is too great for her to defy his wishes.

In reality, not having her dream job when she has so much more isn't the worst thing in the world. Lilah is happy in her current situation. She has a father who loves her, family that she gets along quite well with (which makes working together much easier), and her job can be fun on occasion. Some day, she might tackle her dreams and become a world-famous scientist, but, for now, she is more than content trying to find the perfect balance between work and play.
